The Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) is mandated security configuration standard from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The FDCC currently exists for desktops and laptops that run Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows XP operating system software. ALL federal government agencies must adopt this new desktop security  configuration developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  Software manufacturers or vendors are expected to certify that their products meet FDCC requirements.
