Symbols won't move and appear to be locked in place

Question:

I have attached a chart that I created in Milestones Professional. This is a chart that is used for a lot of briefings for the government. Unfortunately my engineer and I opened it to make some changes and a lot of the bars are locked and I cannot change the links or delete.

Answer:

There are two reasons you symbols can't move:

Reason 1: The symbols are baseline symbols and the baseline is locked. When locked, baseline symbols can not be moved. Fortunately, it's easy to unlock the baseline.

On the View tab, choose Lock Baseline so that it is unchecked.

Reason 2: The symbols are summary symbols.

On the Insert tab, choose New Column.
On the drop-down menu pick Outline Level. This will help you diagnose the issue. See outlining in the Milestones Help.
