"Logarithmic" (variable) time scales

Question:

I want to display a heading that displays a sort of logarithmic time scale. I want to show one year compressed for historical tracking and the current year more spread out. How can I do that?

I would like to have different areas of the date heading appear bigger than other sections. Is this possible?

Answer:

Logarithmic date headings were introduced in version 2015. The example below shows three sections of the timescale which have been expanded.
