Question:
How can I separate two overlapping symbols on a bar?
|
Answer:
There are many reasons why symbols might end up on the same date. Often, a baseline symbol and a normal symbol will be on the same date.
Here are some tips which will help:
Select a symbol on a crowded schedule
-
Choose (the Arrow tool) in the toolbox.
-
Click once on any symbol on the row which includes the overlapping symbols.
-
Use the keyboard arrow keys (left arrow, right arrow) to move from symbol to symbol on the row. Note that as you move, the status bar (area below the schedule) will show the type of symbol and it's date. See examples below:

Change the symbol date within the task row (using the arrow keys)
-
Once the symbol is selected, hold down the Shift Key while pressing either the left or right arrow keys on the keyboard. The left key will take the symbol to an earlier date while the right key will take the symbol to a later date.
It's possible to adjust the amount of vertical spacing for symbols on your schedule. On the Tools tab, choose Edit. Change the value for Vert Spacing: Upper/Lower Symbols. See Adjust vertical spacing for symbols.
Change the symbol's vertical position within the task row (using the arrow keys)
-
Once the symbol is selected, hold down the Shift Key while pressing either the up or down arrow keys on the keyboard. This will move the symbol to one of the 11 possible vertical positions within the task row.
