Percent complete is different than Microsoft Project

Question:

When I import a Project file, the percent complete readings are not the same in Milestones.  Why is that?

Answer:

For the majority of Milestones import options, percent complete is displayed as text or as a value, derived directly from Microsoft Project. Thus, percent value is not calculated in Milestones.

However, the following may be true when Milestones does calculate the percent value.

When the Project schedule contains a task with the same start and end date, the Milestones schedule uses a separate start symbol, end symbol, and status symbol all on that one date.  Milestones then reads that as 100% complete, since Hourly Detail is not chosen as a default setting.

 To activate "Allow Hourly Detail":

  1. On the Dates tab, in the Start and End Dates section, choose More Settings.

  2. Choose Hourly/Minute...

  3. Check the Allow Hourly Detail box and then OK.

Now your percent complete reading should be 0% as shown in the Project schedule for those single date tasks.
