Shift all dates

Question:

I have a schedule which I used last year for a project. I have a project coming up which starts in a couple of months. The project schedule will be close to identical and I would like to start with an exact copy of the schedule I used, but have it start on a future date. Is this possible?

Answer:

Milestones Professional has a feature called Shift All Dates which will let you move all schedule dates (including curtains, if any) into the future (or past) by any number of days.

This option is handy for those working on project proposals. Schedules can be put together without knowing what the schedule starting date will be. Then, when the project start date is known, just shift the schedule to that date.

Shift all symbols by a number of days:

Choose Dates | Date Range Tools | Shift all task dates.
If you want to shift the schedule forward, click the Forward button. Otherwise click the Backward button.
Key in Number of Working Days to Shift your schedule.
If you would like Milestones Professional to recalculate the starting and ending date range for your schedule, click Reset the Schedule Start and End Dates. (If this option is not selected, the start and end dates range will remain the same after the shift, and some schedule information might not be visible.)
Optionally, Shift Curtain Dates by the same amount as well.

Shift all symbols by a number of days, on selected task rows only:

Use the Shift Dates for Selected Tasks feature to move all symbols on selected task rows either forward or backward in time by a specified number of working days.
Select the task rows containing the symbols and bars to be shifted.
Choose Selection | Task Row Settings | More Task Row Options | Shift Dates.
If you want to shift the schedule forward, click the Forward button. Otherwise click the Backward button.
Key in Number of Working Days to Shift your schedule.
