Symbol text refreshed when no tag on symbol

Question:     

I'm using Milestones Professional.  Many of my symbols include symbol text as part of the symbol text.  Some of them do not include the symbol text tag.  However, all of the symbols are getting updated, regardless of whether or not they have a tag.  What could be happening?
