Two End Dates

Question:

I would like to show two end dates and have the dates appear in the End Date SmartColumn.  Right now when I have two End Date SmartColumns if I change one the other one gets updated.  One of the date columns will show Expected Completion Date ECD and the other will show Due Date.

Answer:

The End Date SmartColumn displays the date of the last "normal" symbol on the task.

There are four types of symbols:  Normal, Baseline, Comment and Status.  Our recommendation is that you use a Baseline symbol for this problem:

Set up a baseline symbol in the toolbox:

  1. Double click any unused symbol in your toolbox and set it to baseline symbol:

Add a Baseline End Date SmartColumn:

  1. On the Insert tab, choose New Column

  2. From the list of column types, choose Dates...

  3. On the dialog box, choose Baseline End Date.

  4. Double-click the Baseline End column heading.

  5. Change the Column Heading to read ECD.

Now, use the baseline symbol you set up in your toolbox, for ECD.  Use the "normal" symbol for the Due Date.  (Shown here in the End Date SmartColumn)
