Workday start and end times

Workday start and end times must be defined if hourly and/or minute detail is turned on, for accurate duration calculations. If duration calculations need to be accurate only to the day, then there is no need to define Workday Time.

When the Hourly/Minute tab on the Schedule Details dialog box is chosen, there is Start Time 1/End Time 1 and Start Time 2/End Time 2 in the Workday Time box. This box enables calculations of durations for split shifts. For example, a company’s typical day may include an 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. shift and a 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. shift. Because no work is done between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., there is a choice not to include that time in the duration calculations.

Set workday start and end times:

  1. Choose Dates | Start and End Dates | .

  2. Click the Hourly/Minute... option.

  3. Miles00000375.gif Allow Hourly Detail.

  4. Allow Minute Detail.

  5. Under Displayed Time, enter the range of hours, from Start Time to End Time, that will be displayed in the date heading.

    • By default, the schedule will display all 24 hours of each day included in the date range.

  6. Under Workday Time, enter the time period for the first shift's Start Time 1 and End Time 1.

  7. Under Workday Time, enter the time period for the second shift's Start Time 2 and End Time 2.

    • These settings (Steps 6 and 7) control the duration reading for hours.

    • These settings are also useful if the lunch hour is not counted as a working hour for duration purposes.
