Automation changes in recent versions of Milestones Professional

The Automation call SetCurtainProperties now has an optional 8th parameter that lets you assign up to 19 characters as the curtain name to be used in a task line:

arg 8 = name for taskline use (optional)

 

If arg 8 is included, but is a zero length string or the first character is a blank, then the name, if any is removed from the curtain definition.

The Automation call SetTasklineCurtain has been added, so that the 5 curtains can be specified for a taskline.

       arg 1 = Taskline (1 based)

       arg 2 = which curtain for line (1 to 5)

       arg 3 = "curtain name" (if zero length or 1^st char is blank then remove)

       arg 4 = "start override" (optional but if present, then end date must also be present)

       arg 5 = "end override" (optional but if present, then start date must also be present)

Toolbox:

SetToolboxSymbolProperty(nSymInToolBox,”CustomDateFormat”,”dddd MMM”)

Symbol in Row:

SetSymbolProperty(nLine,nSym, ”CustomDateFormat”,”dddd MMM”)

Allows the symbol to be set to ignore fill-to-status if an override fill color has been specified. This is equivalent to checking the “Also override after status color” in the enhanced toolbar Typically located at the top of the Milestones Professional window, the oolbar is a fast way to perform basic tasks.  The toolbar display will change as items are selected on the schedule. size/color settings tab for the selected symbol:

 

 

SetSymbolProperty(line,symbol,”IgnoreFillToStatusForOverrideColor”,1) - arg 4 can be 0 or 1.

The vertical spacing for upper and lower symbols can now be overridden for each task line:

 

 

 

Automation method added to support the above:

 

SetTaskLineVertSymSpace(nLine,nPercent)

 

arg 1 = task line (1 based)

                arg 2 = percent space: 0,25,50,75,100,125,150,175,200,225,250,275,300

 

0 means revert line back to schedule default. 25-300 are used to override whatever the schedule default is.

 

If an invalid value passed then the default of 100% is set. No error is returned, but notation shows up if debug mode is on.

             

 

AFTER STATUS SYMBOL SHAPE OVERRIDE

A symbol shape dropdown was added to the Symbol Options dialog for each symbol in the Toolbox  to allow a different symbol shape if after the status date:

Automation call SetToolboxSymbolProperty(nSym,”AfterStatusType”,nType) was added to support this new option via automation.

The automation call SetLegendProperty(“ClearLegend”,0,0) will now clear all legend A key which can be used to describe the symbols and bars on a schedule. entries. Note that only the entries are cleared. No other legend properties, such as color, shadow, size, etc. are affected.

POINTS ONLY DATAGRAPH The graph(s) which can be added to any schedule in order to associate numerical information, known as ValueSets, with schedule dates.

The Automation changes supporting these new options are:

 

SetValueSetProperty (3 new properties added)

 

              "PointSymbol"        arg 3 is 1-32

              "SizeOverride"       arg 3 is 0-18, which matches the order

of the available override settings in the GUI dropdown (which run from none to 5.0)

              "HighLowConnection"  arg 3 is 0-9, which allows for none (0) or

one of the nine other ValueSets (1-9)

 

 

SetDataGraphProperty ("LineBar" property updated)

 

 

"LineBar"  arg 3 is "Line" or "Bar" or "WideBar" or "Point"

This new feature allows any symbol or symbol and connector to have a percent fill override applied. This override overrides any other factors such as status date. A sample is below. The dialog displayed outlines all the rules concerning the overrides:

Automation changes to support bar and symbol percent overrides:

SetSymbolProperty(nline,nsym,”Percent1Override”,percent) or

SetSymbolProperty(nline,nsym,”Percent2Override”,percent)

Percent can be -1 to 100. -1 means reset, 0 to 100 is the percent to use.

If the Split Duration option is active, then the percent complete column takes the symbol by symbol overrides into account.

 

FORCE SUMMARY BARS TO FILL TO CURRENT DATE The date of the schedule. This is usually picked up from the computer’s built-in clock, but can be overridden if necessary.

It's now possible to apply an override to the outline color of any symbol already placed on the schedule:

The automation SetSymbolProperty now has a setting for “SymbolLineColor”

It's now possible to override the symbol mark and mark color for symbols that are already on the schedule. You can add a mark or remove the mark if it is already there. Before marks were controlled only via the Toolbox setting:

 

Set the mark override via the Enhanced Toolbar Summary/Mark setting or via the Size/Color/Summary tab in the Symbol Properties dialog box.

 

The automation SetSymbolProperty now has a setting for “SymbolMarkType” The type can be from 0 20.

 

The automation SetSymbolProperty now has a setting for “SymbolMarkColor”

 

Note that setting the override to “None” will not remove a mark that is being designated by the Toolbox. Setting the mark type to “None” simply removes any override for the symbol. Once the symbol override is removed, the Toolbox setting takes over.
