Non-graphical copy and paste / Paste as a spreadsheet

Question:

Can Milestones create non-graphical reports, such as a summary of tasks and their due dates? That is, how can I transfer information from a Milestones schedule (column information, schedule title, symbol dates, etc.) into the columns and cells of a spreadsheet?

Answer:

  1. In Milestones, select the Edit | Copy Schedule to Clipboard  option. In Excel, right-click the top, left-most cell and choose Paste. The information appears in spreadsheet format.
  2. In Word, select Paste Special, and select Unformatted Text (instead of a Picture format). The text of the schedule will be pasted into Word as a tabbed text block.

You can also select an individual column and copy it to the clipboard. Just select an entire column by clicking near the top of the column when the cursor changes to the column select cursor and then select the Edit | Copy Column Text menu.

If you need more column export control, you might copy the entire schedule to Excel and then use its custom exporter to get more control over the resultant output format.

Milestones Professional has a complete Automation Interface for directly linking a schedule with any other application that supports VBA or VB, such as Excel, Access, etc. The automation interface enables you to completely control what information gets retrieved by the other application.
