The sidebar

The optional sidebar is an extra toolbar anchored to the left or right side of the Milestones window. The sidebar contains the toolbox (which is normally free-floating) and a user-defined list of shortcut buttons for a variety of activities, including moving from page to page, creating web pages, filtering, applying a color theme, creating a master schedule, and much more.  Changes made in the Sidebar Options dialog box apply to all schedules.

 

 


Display the sidebar

  1. Choose Tools | Customize | Sidebar Options.

  2. Select either Show Sidebar on left or Show Sidebar on right.

  3. Restart Milestones for these changes to take effect.


Remove the sidebar

  1. Choose Tools | Customize | Sidebar Options.

  2. Select Do not show Sidebar.

  3. Restart Milestones for these changes to take effect.


Add and remove selected sidebar icons

  1. Choose Tools | Customize | Sidebar Options.

  2. Add sidebar icons: Select from the list of Available Sidebar icons and then click Add>>.

  3. Remove sidebar icons: Select from the list of Current Sidebar icons and then click <<Remove.

These are the available sidebar shortcut icons:

Launches the Internet Publishing Wizard.

Attaches the active Milestones schedule to an outgoing e-mail message for sending.

Launches the Go To Page dialog box for jumping to any page in the schedule.

Launches the Find dialog box for searching for specified text.

Launches the Find and Replace dialog box for searching for and replacing specified text.

Launches the Find dialog box and continues searching for the next area of the schedule according to the last find.

Scrolls the schedule to the page following the active page. Same as PageDown key on the keyboard.

Scrolls the schedule to the page before the active page. Same as PageUp key on the keyboard.

Launches the Specify Title dialog box for entering a title for the schedule.

Inserts a new, blank task row at the top of the first schedule page or above the selected task row.

Launches the Current Date Options dialog box for changing the current date, current date line, and status line properties.

Launches the Apply a Color Theme dialog box for changing the color scheme of the schedule.

Launches the Filter Task Rows dialog box for refining the information displayed in the schedule.

Launches the Bookmark dialog box for jumping to a bookmarked task row or creating a bookmark for the selected task row.

Deletes the selected object. Not all objects can be deleted.

Displays all task rows. Task rows may be hidden.

Collapse or expand a task row.

Launches the Legend Entry Edit dialog box for creating new legend entries.

Launches the Frame and Background Options dialog box for formatting the schedule background and borders.

Launches the DataGraph Options dialog box for creating and changing DataGraphs.

Launches the Create or Edit ValueSets dialog box for creating new or changing existing ValueSet properties.

Launches the Multi-Column Sort dialog box for rearranging task rows based on selected columns' values.

 

Launches the Spell Check dialog box and begins the spell check process.

Launches the Milestones Professional Help Topics.

Launches the Master Schedule Properties dialog box for creating and editing a master schedule.

Updates the master schedule with the latest information from the sub-schedules.

Copies the Milestones page as a metafile to the clipboard for pasting into another document.

Launches the Enter Password dialog box for adding security settings for the opened file.

Copy all pages of the current schedule to PowerPoint.

Save the current schedule as a PDF.

Copies the Milestones page as an object to the clipboard for embedding or linking into another document.

 

 

 The number of visible sidebar icons is determined by the toolbox size, screen resolution, and Milestones window size. The fewer rows of symbols and bars in the toolbox, the more sidebar shortcut icons are visible. A maximized Milestones window will display more sidebar shortcut icons than a minimized window.
