Difficulty connecting to Microsoft Project

Question:     

I am a new user to Milestone Professional and am having technical difficulties trying to connect to Microsoft Project. I’m attempting to Create a Report from Project within the Connections tab.  It then allows me to choose a Project file but nothing appears within Milestone when  I choose the file. No one else within my department has this issue. The IT department has reinstalled the software but I get the same results. Do you have any suggestions on how to elevate this problem?

 

Answer:

If the Project to Milestones wizard does not start after a file has been selected, it's possible that Milestones is having trouble getting it started.  

 

  1. In Milestones, recreate the Milestones Windows registry settings by choosing Tools | Program Options | Files and Automation | Run Rereg.exe.
  2. If the above doesn't work, try re-booting the computer.
  3. If steps 1 and 2 don't work, you may need to have an administrator update your Microsoft Project software.  If you have admin access:
    1. Windows Start Button
    2. Choose Settings.
    3. Choose Apps.
    4. Choose Installed Apps.
    5. For Microsoft Project, choose Modify and then Repair.  Usually the Quick Repair will work.

Another option is to download and install the Milestones Project Add In.  It is available in the downloads section of www.kidasa.com.
