Apply a template to an existing schedule

Question:

When I apply a template to an existing schedule, the symbols and connectors do not look as I expected.  What could cause this?

Answer:

When a template is applied to a chart that contains task names, dates, symbols, connectors, etc., the new symbols in the template replace the old symbols in the chart according to their position in the Toolbox.

For example, the chart's toolbox, in the first toolbox row, contains a green triangle for the start symbol, a blue bar and a red triangle for the end symbol.  It also has a black line for the first vertical connector.

The template's toolbox, in the first toolbox row has yellow arrows for the start and end symbols and a lower navy bar.  It has a thick red line for the first vertical connector.  Thus, when the template (below) is opened over the existing schedule (above), the green and red triangles become yellow arrows.  The bar and vertical connectors also change to the new ones.
