Create, add and adjust a status symbol

Any symbol in the toolbox can be designated as a status symbol. When a status symbol is placed on the schedule between the start and end symbols, it overrides the current date as the status date for that activity.

Turn on the fill to status date feature for the status symbol to work properly.

Create a status symbol:

  1. In the toolbox, double-click a symbol to be used as the Status Symbol.

  2. Choose from the list of Standard Shapes.

    • Generally, unobtrusive symbol shapes like shape #12, 13, 17, 18, 27, 47, 48 are recommended.

  3. Select Status Symbol (used for percent complete).

Add the status symbol to a task bar:

On a task row there should already be a start date symbol, bar, and end date symbol (a task bar). Generally, the status symbol is added between the start and end symbols.

Add the status symbol to the schedule.

Move the status symbol once it's been placed on the task row:

  1. Click  (the toolbox Arrow tool.)

  2. On the schedule, click and drag the status symbol to the new status date.

Hide the date of the status symbol:

In some cases the date associated with the status symbol is not needed on the schedule.

  1. In the toolbox, double-click the status symbol.

    • To determine which symbol in the toolbox is a status symbol, click on a status symbol on the schedule.  The selected symbol will then be highlighted in the toolbox.

  2. The Symbol Options dialog box appears. Click the Text and Date Properties tab.

  3. Under Date Placement click the Hide button.

  4. Click OK.
