Gantt views

A schedule can be toggled between 7 Gantt chart summary view modes.

  1. Gantt - Normal View: This is the default Gantt display.

  2. Gantt - Rolled-Up to Single Bar: The schedule is rolled-up (collapsed) to the highest outline level and displays single summary bars.

  3. Gantt - Rolled-Up to Multiple Bars: The schedule is rolled-up (collapsed) to the highest outline level and displays all sub-tasks' milestones and task bars.

  4. Gantt - Calendar View

  5. Gantt - Duration View

  6. Gantt - Percent Complete View

  7. Gantt - Logarithmic View

Gantt - Normal View (this is the default view)

Choose View | View Mode | Gantt - Normal View.

Gantt - Rolled-Up to Single Bar view:

The schedule is rolled-up (collapsed) to the highest outline level and displays single summary bars. This changes the Summary Bar Settings to "Always Draw" summary bars.

  1. Choose View | View Mode | Gantt - Rolled-Up to Single Bar.

Gantt - Rolled-Up to Multiple Bars view:

The schedule is rolled-up (collapsed) to the highest outline level and displays all sub-tasks' milestones and task bars. This changes the Summary Bar Settings to "Always Draw" summary bars and "Split Summary Bars using Lower Level Symbols/Bars."

  1. Choose View | View Mode | Gantt - Rolled-Up to Multiple Bars.

While in the view mode Gantt - Rolled-Up to Multiple Bars or Gantt - Rolled-Up to Single Bar, other display options can be changed, such as Show All Tasks or changing Summary Bar Settings options. However, the Gantt view mode will not change, unless actively changed by the user.

Gantt - Duration view:

The Duration View mode replaces the Gantt bars and milestones with horizontal bar graphs indicating each task's duration.

A bar's length corresponds to a task's duration value. The gray fill indicates the completed portion. The longest duration uses the full width of the schedule area. The duration bars do not represent start and stop dates. To display the Duration View, choose View | Viewing Options | Chart Type: (drop down menu) | Gantt - Duration View.

To revert to the original Gantt view with the original summary bar settings, choose View | View Mode | Gantt - Normal View.

Duration view example:

This schedule represents a typical Gantt view.

When switched to Duration View, each task displays a red bar and a value indicating the duration, along with a gray fill for completed duration.

To change the color of the bar (in the duration view) choose Tools | Program Options | General and change the Bar fill color for Duration and Percent view.   The font display for the duration values on the bars is controlled by the Symbol Text setting in default text setting. The duration values and duration bars are based on the Duration Display Settings.
